Yu Yuan Garden
Yu Yuan Garden, located in the center of Shanghai’s Old City, is one of the best-preserved large Chinese traditional private gardens in Shanghai with more than 500 years of history. This famous classical garden was built in16th century Ming dynasty by Pan family. Built in traditional Chinese garden style, the essential “four elements” of Chinese garden – water, rock, buildings, and plants are integrated gracefully together. The tranquil lotus ponds, bamboo trees, scenery pavilions, terraces, chambers, uneven towers, unusual rocks, zigzagging bridges, and winding paths presents a harmonious unity with the nature. Amidst of a bustling city, Yu Yuan Garden is truly a delicate and secluded get away for a breath of natural beauty. It is a masterpiece of ancient Chinese landscape architecture and a must see tourist site in Shanghai.
