Xian Weather Overview
Located at the southern part of the Loess Plateau of China, Xian has a semi-moist monsoon climate with distinct four seasons. Winter in Xian is cold and dry. January is generally the coldest month. . Since the daily temperature difference could be quite significant, always bring a warm jacket with you when travel that are. Weather is generally dry and sandy. Since winter could be cold and dry, always drink enough water and keep very rich moisturizers with you. A mask could come in handy when you meet the big wind that stir up sand.
Spring and Fall are very pleasant in Xian. If you get a chance to travel Xian, China during these seasons, you have easy options for clothing. Foreigners in Xian, China usually have casual, informal clothing with fashions from Europe or the U.S, such as Western suits, jackets, sports coats, woolen jackets, long sleeve shirts, etc. It is advised to wear running shoes, tennis shoes, or hiking boots for easy walking during your China tour.
Winter is cold and dry, but with little snow. Be prepared to have enough warm clothes during the cold months of winter. Fleece-lined jackets, gloves, and earmuffs are advisable since temperatures can be low with strong winds. Try to avoid wearing synthetic fabrics in winter since they collect static electricity. Static spray could be a great help to control the static electricity in clothing.
The weather turns hot and rainy in Summer. Light weight clothes made of pleasantly cool materials are good choices. T-shirts, short sleeve shirts, skirts, sandals, caps, rain wear are generally recommended.
