Chinese Appetizer Recipe - Lettuce Wraps
Basic Ingredients:
- 1 head iceberg lettuce, cut into half and separate the leaves
- 1 lbs chicken, diced
- 1 can water chestnuts, diced
- 1 stalk celery, diced
- ˝ cup diced carrot
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- ˝ cup roasted peanut, grated
Seasoning Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cooking wine
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame-seed oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely minced
- 1 garlic clove, finely minced
- ˝ cup green onions, chopped
- 1 red pepper, diced
Procedures:
- Heat the sesame-seed oil in a non-stick frying pan, add ginger, garlic, green onions, red pepper and stir fry to release the flavor. Add the chicken and stir-fry until the chicken is nicely browned. Add water chestnuts, celery, carrot and stir-fry for 1 minute, stir in the cornstarch/water mixture to thickening, then add soy sauce, oyster sauce, wine, sugar to stir-fry for another two minutes.
- Remove the mixture from the frying pan to a serving plate, add peanut on top evenly, and serve with the lettuce leaf. It is designed to place a spoon of the chicken/vegetable mixture into the center of the lettuce and eat like “taco-style”.
Timing:15 minutes to prepare 10 minutes to cook.
Tips: Different vegetables could be used.
Taste: Delicious, fresh.
