Chinese Tea and Health


Chinese green teaA cup of tea is more than just a steamy, comforting brew. Many studies from different resources have agreed that tea may contribute positively to a healthy lifestyle. Drinking tea is one of the best thing that one could add to daily diets to ward off various serious illness. Tea is rich in antioxidant, vitamin C, E, P and B. These ingredients is essential to improve cardiovascular health, lower cholesterol level, lower the risk of stokes, guard against various types of cancers. Studies also show that drinking tea may help weight management, allergy relief, diabetes, and arthritis. Although tea contains caffeine, the amounts are far less comparing to coffee and produce a softer, beneficial effect.

Chinese Tea Rich in Antioxidant:

Researches have found that green tea’s polyphenols are potent antioxidant compounds that have demonstrated powerful antioxidant protection. Studies have found that green tea has the effect to inhibit the growth of esophageal and stomach tumors in mice. There is evidence that both green and black tea have greatly reduced the rate of cancers of the digestive tract, lungs, urinary tract, and skin among regular tea drinkers. White tea, derived from the buds of the tea plant, is known for protecting DNA, which is essential to fight cancer. Improved Cardiovascular Health and Reduced Risk of Stroke: Some studies have show that regular tea drinkers have lower rate of incidents of heart attacks compared to non tea drinkers. Flavonoid, one of the compound in tea appears may have the benefit of prevention of this cardiovascular desease. It is theorized that Flavonoids improve the lining of blood vessels, help to prevent narrowed or clogged arteries that lead to ischemic heart disease, heart attack, or stroke. Researches also found that both green and black tea reduce the levels of LDL, or “bad” cholesterol in the blood. LDL (Low density lipoprotein) cholesterol is the type of cholesterol that block the arteries. High “bad” cholesterol levels in the blood have been closely associated with coronary heart disease.

Oral Health:

Researchers have found that the tannin and fluoride content present in tea prevents tooth decay. Other compounds found in Tea, especially catechins and theaflavins inhibited growth of oral bacteria that cause bad breath in the mouth.

Relieves Arthritis:

Researchers have found that consuming a certain mount of green tea each day may prevent arthritis or diminish the inflammation it causes.

Help Weight Management:

It was found that green tea’s high concentrations of antioxidants significant increase metabolism. These compounds work with other chemicals to intensify levels of fat oxidation to burn fat naturally.

Other Health Benefits:

Researchers have suggested various other benefits of tea - retarding the aging process, improving immune system, reducing bone fracture risk, etc.
